Day 03

May 19, 2010

The day started with a lecture by Professor Francesco Ducato about “Architecture and Sound” focused on the relation in between sound and space in several points of view. The lecture stared from  the philosophical approaches to relation between architecture and music. Then passed though geometrical consideration related to the historical and the most contemporary experiments in the digital  age. Another aspect of the lecture has been the relation in between materials and sound and finally several examples on how the sound can “deform” or “define” a space.

After the lecture the student went back to the work on the projects in a much more deep detail of development.

Day 02

May 15, 2010

Students started working on the fast production of concepts for a pavilion or an installation to be placed in a site inside the AIU

Second day lecture was about ” Fashion of Architecture β – materials and technologies “by Prof. Aref Maksoud”,as a complement of lecture Alfa, focusing more on concepts such as emergence, form generating process, implicit-explicit, explaining the generative process based on a concept focusing on spatial configuration. The last part focuses on elegance, presented as a search for fineness driven by craft and manufacturing.

Prototyping – cartoon and raw materials prototypes – Pin-up at the end of the day and group’s discussion, the aim was to shift from concepts sketches to realization ideas developing the process driven by trial and error.

Day 01

May 15, 2010

After a brief introudction to the workshop’s synopsis, schedule and structure.

Prof. Francesco Ducato started the journey with a lecture on “Architecture and Ligh”. Focusing on the relation in between space and light during different historical ages and in the actuality (digital age and sustainable emergency). Every age has been related to built projects and different theoretical approaches.

Students had a time to start thinking and working in first sketches.

After that it was necessary to start Brain storming phase by Prof .Aref Maksoud through a lecture “Fashion of Architecture α – Geometry Lessons “in which the body-space relation is furthermore expanded in the perspective of the interconnection between fashion and architecture, with a closer look as dresses as architectural devices and their strategies of body adaption by form through the use of geometry (plications, tessellations, folds).

With the aim to help the students creating an installation or pavilion in some visible (public) space in the university.

Students were divided into groups.

About Creative Art 2.0

May 15, 2010

Creative Art 2.0 is a workshop organized by MAG LAB in collaboration with AIU” Faculty of Architecture” wants to create a certain continuity with the first successful workshop on “Creative Art” done in January 2010 … This second edition “Creative process, contemporary Art” wants focus its interest to show the students different creative processes in a multidisciplinary artistic context, based on the new “making of” culture.

This workshop is an exploration of different ways of representing ideas through art concepts applied by an intensive search for spatial conditions in order to configure architectural spaces.

In order to understand the different approaches every phase of the workshop will be complemented with lectures.
